Accumulating Snow Predicted for Area

A Winter Weather Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service predicting freezing rain and snowfall with locally higher amounts possible for the Sedalia area. Beginning at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4th, and continuing until 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 6th, the City of Sedalia will enact the emergency snow routes.

As a reminder, when more than 2 inches of snow/sleet/ice is expected with a 24-hour period, the City declares a snow emergency and the Emergency Snow Routes are put into effect. Many times, these Snow Events can also delay trash collection. If such a delay occurs, the City of Sedalia will release another PSA in regards to collections on Monday, January 6th.

The map below details which City streets are designated Emergency Snow Routes, as well as, those designated by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). The map can also be located on the following page: Emergency Snow Routes

The City encourages everyone to check for current travel conditions at MoDOT’s “Traveler Info Map” available at their website www.modot.org.
