Operations Support Bureau
The primary function of this bureau is telecommunications. They operate the computer-aided dispatch and handle all 911 calls. This requires them to answer and dispatch over 35,000 calls for service annually. They also consist of other units such as Crossing Guards, Reserve Officers, and Community Service Officers. Finally, they keep all sworn officers current and certified.
Uniform Operations Bureau
The Bureau operates in a proactive manner to reduce crime, promote citizen safety, and react effectively when incidents occur. They conduct more than 8,500 vehicle stops per year. Their Traffic Management Unit focuses on the safety of the motoring public. They also run the K-9 Unit and teach the D.A.R.E. curriculum to local schools.
Criminal Investigation Bureau
The Criminal Investigation Bureau is responsible for investigations, community policing, property and evidence, and conducting internal affairs. This division consists of two veteran investigators and two rotating detectives. Each criminal case is evaluated for solvability factors. If enough factors exist to solve a case, it is assigned to an investigator.
Administrative Services Bureau
The Administrative Services Bureau aids and enhances the effectiveness of the Sedalia Police Department through information management and resource allocation. This is done through the office of Police Records which is responsible for records management, financial services, and document control. Secondly, Personnel Services recruits, tests, selects, hires, certifies, and trains officers. Lastly, Automated Systems operates and maintains all computer operations, telephone systems, 911 operations, and all other related equipment.
